This country is beautiful, the most beautiful. Trust me if I say it will un-belizable!.A proud Belizean

Simply enough, you will not find a better description of Belize than what real proud Belizean will say about it: “You Will Not Belize it!”. Even though this country is relatively small, the fact that moving around with local transport is relatively slow will give you a chance to explore its core at your own pace.

Spend some time in Orange Walk Town exploring the breathtaking river ruins of Lamanai tucked away in the jungle and swinging by at Cuello’s distillery for a rum tasting session.

Head over to Caye Caulker, a backpacker-friendly paradise island for those willing to do some once-in-a-lifetime snorkelling and diving with sharks, manatees, dolphins, whales and much more.

Pay a visit to the city of Dangriga during the Garifuna Festival to learn about the garifuna culture and see the reenactment of the first settlers that arrived to Belize.

Relax on the beaches of Placencia while eating the only country’s real homemade italian gelato and taste some of the best fresh seafood Belize has to offer.

For the real nature junkies, make sure to spend at least a couple of nights inside the Cockscomb Basin reserve trekking in search for jaguars, plane wrecks and unique treetops views of the surrounding landscape.

Before leaving the country for Guatemala, make a stop in San Ignacio to spend the day trekking in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, exploring the awesome ruins of Caracol and bathing in one of the many beautiful natural pools & waterfalls scattered around the route.

If you happen to end the southermost point in the sleepy village of Punta Gorda remember that from there you can take ferries to both Guatemala and Honduras.

So tiny yet so much to offer! The month visa will surely not be enough to explore this country in deep but will surely give you a chance to leave Belize with beautiful memories and a couple of garifuna songs still playing in back of your mind. Simple, rich and full friendly people: Belize!

Next Trip Bucket List

[column-group]

Visit Ambergris Caye & San Pedro – The other beautiful but more expensive Caye just off the coast of Corazal and its metropolitan city of San Pedro: pretty much the same of Caye Caulker but just in a bigger scale!

Dive in the Great Blue Hole – We really wanted to do this but the price was very high and the 4hrs boat to get there were not that inviting. But definitely next time!

Explore the ATM caves – Exploring these ritual caves was one of the two option while in San Ignacio but we opted for visiting the Caracol Ruins.

Snorkel at Glover’s Reef in Hopkins – One of the most beautiful spots to snorkel in Belize and just off the coast of Hopkins. This is definitely gonna be a must-stop next time. Beach & snorkel in a backpacker town!

Trek around the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary – We only met a handful of people who went there but everybody agreed that the beautiful wildlife of the park (especially seeing flamingoes) should be at the top of every Belize bucket list.

Explore the St. Herman’s Cave – Another interesting spot to do some spelunking and enjoy some bathing in natural pools. If moving with local buses, getting here might be a bi tricky and time-consuming. Maybe next time when we’re going to rent a car!
