5 Things to do in Miraflores

By Connected Horizons

When visiting Lima, you’ll more than likely stay at hostel, hotel or homestead located inside the Miraflores district. Over the years, this seaside neighbourhood has been improved a lot up to the point to become today’s most famous backpacker hub. You can find shops, nice parks and several others activities to do but most importantly, it is good to know that this is the safest area of the capital. Here’s 5 things to do while in Miraflores.

1# HAVE A WALK ALONG THE MALECON
Probably the most interesting to do in Miraflores is to head to the Malecon. All along the Malecon, from the lighthouse down to the district of San Isidro, there’s a beautiful well-kept path from which you can enjoy views of the city on the coast. Make sure to bring some jacket along cause its usually very windy!

2# TRY PARAGLIDING
Right on the Malecon, in-between the lighthouse and Love Park, there’s a small grass flat from where you can do paragliding over the cliffs. The wind coming up from the ocean and hitting the side of the cliff make it a perfect spot for this extreme sport; whether you’re a newbie or a PRO the company offering the service give you the option to go alone or with an instructor. The price is around 250 soles/pp.

3# CHECK OUT LOVE PARK
Following onto the Malecon you get to Love Park (Parque del Amor), a small park full of mosaics and a beautiful hug sculpture right in the middle of it. The place is nice to stroll around for a while, watch the people paragliding, enjoy the views and take a couple of happy snaps.

4# STROLL AROUND KENNEDY PARK
More in the heart of Miraflores there’s the Kennedy Park. The huge park is a great place to chill one of the may benches scattered around and enjoy a bit of clean air away from the city traffic. Funnily enough, the park is also known to have a LOT of super-friendly cats which are left roaming around by a pet-adoption company in the hope for people to give them a home. Just pick your cat, let them know and you’re ready to go. And before you ask, all cats have been to a vet, are vaccinated and addictively cute.

5# VISIT HUACA PUCLLANA
Located in the more residential area of Miraflores, you can find the Huaca Pucllana, a small but interesting archaeological site that can be worth a look. If this is your first site in Peru than you should definitely drop by, on the other hand if you’ve seen others before, don’t expect to be impressed too much. Some nights the site gets illuminated by coloured lights in order to create a nice light effect that can be seen from afar; make sure to swing by on any of those nights!
