Sitting in the far North of Spain, in-between Cantabria and Galicia, the comarcas of Asturias attract visitors from all over the world. Its delicious seafood cuisine filled with queso de cabrales and homemade sidra is nothing but one of the big plus of this beautiful country.
Gastronomy apart, travellers come to wander Asturia to get a glimpse of the unique villages harboured along the coast. Choosing which ones to visit can be a pretty complicated task but here’s a list of the 5 must-visit coastal villages of Asturia.

Cudillero
Nested right in the “coastal” heart of the country, this intriguing tiny village was built around a small natural cove back in early years of the 19th century. Since then, it kept developing inland creating some sort of bay town which now people refer to as villa marinera. The strategically located lighthouse is a perfect spot to get the best view over the whole place!
Ribadesella
Arguably one of the most known village, Ribadesella it completely embodies the term of coastal village. Beautiful summer beaches, a complex of UNESCO caves filled with prehistoric art and a lovely setting over a wide bay, are all must-visit sights. On top of that, the town is also home to the acclaimed worldwide event of canoeing, also known as the Descenso Internacional del Sella.
Llastres
Listed among the “most beautiful towns in Spain”, Llastres deserves all the fame. The medieval historical center and harbour are gorgeous to say the least. Similarly to Cudillero, the town developed on a small cove, nevertheless sea and mountain seems to be one here. Aside from the nice beaches, it is also possible to enjoy some breathtaking mountain views from the Mirador de San Roque.
Llanes
Often seen as an off the beaten track destination, Llanes is the perfect all-in-one mix to have a taste of Asturia without the crowds. From a beautiful medieval historical center to pristine beaches and on to a tasty asturian gastronomy, here you can find it all.

Puerto de Vega
A little less spanish and a little more english, visiting Puerto de Vega will seem like visiting some far away village right in the heart of England. Green landscapes, castles and cliffs like the famous ones in Dover: you’ll hardly believe that is Spain!
